Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has denied sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by actress Tanushree Dutta.

Speaking to Times Now, Patekar said he is considering legal action against Tanushree.

"What do you mean sexual harassment? There were 50-100 people on the set with me," Patekar said when asked about the allegations.

"Will see what I can do legally. It's a waste talking to media, you guys will play up anything," he added.

Responding to Tanushree’s claim that Patekar does charity work as a cover for his alleged “terrible behaviour”, the veteran actor said, "People can say whatever they want to say, I will keep doing my work."

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday refused to comment avoided on fellow actor  Nana Patekar harassment claims.

Speaking at the trailer launch of his new movie Thugs of Hindostan, Bachan said, “Neither am I Tanushree, nor am I Nana Patekar, so how can I comment on this?”

Bachan’s co-star Aamir Khan, on the other hand, said, “Without knowing anything I cannot comment on this. But if something has happened, it is always sad and people should investigate.”

A day earlier, Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has alleged veteran actor Patekar had sexually harassed her.

During an interview, Tanushree said, Nana’s reputation of sexual misconduct is well known in the Hindi film industry, but little has been done about it.

“Everyone knows about Nana that he has always been disrespectful towards women. People in the industry know about his background... that he has beaten actresses, he has molested them, his behaviour with women has always been crude but no publication has printed anything about it,” she said during an interview with Zoom.

LOS ANGELES: “Game of Thrones” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won the top prizes at the Emmy awards on Monday on a night of upsets for the highest honours in television and a triumph for streaming services.

Dystopian female show “The Handmaid’s Tale” and FX’s surreal hip-hop comedy “Atlanta” were the biggest losers, taking none of the most prestigious awards and making a disappointing night for stars Elisabeth Moss and Donald Glover.

HBO’s medieval fantasy “Game of Thrones” won a total of nine Emmys, including technical awards for special effects and stunts, and was named best drama series for a third time, beating last year’s champion “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Netflix, which had a leading 112 nominations going into the Emmys, ended up tying HBO for the most wins, with 23 apiece.

Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” about a 1950s housewife who turns to standup comedy, took home the Emmy for best comedy series. “Mrs. Maisel” also won a total of seven other awards, including best actress for Rachel Brosnahan.

Claire Foy beat Moss to win for her quiet but formidable portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in Netflix drama “The Crown.””This wasn’t supposed to happen,” said a surprised Foy.

Sharing her story at an event, the actress said: "I can share one incident that happened recently, I had actually hurt my back. We did the shoot and I was heading back to my room with another guy who was in the same lift." 

"He was part of the film but we had not spoken much. He said that, 'Let me know if you need me in the middle of the night for help, I can come and give your back a rub."

Apte believes that to bring the #MeToo movement to the Indian entertainment industry, artistes need to have a good support system, Hindustan Times reported.  

The 33-year-old actor said that not only women but men also need to "come out of their fears" and share their stories of harassment and sexual abuse.

"The main cause is power game. Be it religious, sexual or economical- it happens everywhere. Nobody wants to lose their power...

"This is a grey area. We need to have a good support system and come out of our fears. Well, not just women but men too are harassed in our industry," Apte said during a session at the India Today Mind Rocks 2018.

"But the good part was that the atmosphere on the sets was so easy and comfortable, I told the filmmakers and they had a meeting with him in person. Then I came to know that the culture that he comes from is such that he didn't realise that he made me uncomfortable with that statement. However, later he never made me feel uncomfortable and apologised," she revealed.

The #MeToo movement began with allegations of sexual harassment and rape against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and triggered a global movement. It eventually led to structural changes in Hollywood and the launch of the Time's Up campaign.

کترینہ کیف کے نام میں شامل’’کیف‘‘کے پیچھے انتہائی دلچسپ کہانی ہے، کترینہ کیف کے والد محمد کیف کا تعلق کشمیر سے اور والدہ سوزانا ٹور کیوٹے کا تعلق برطانیہ سے ہے۔ بھارت آنے کے بعد کترینہ کیف نے اپنا خاندانی نام ٹورکیوٹے سے تبدیل کرکے ’’کیف‘‘ کرلیا تھا۔

بھارتی میڈیا کے مطابق کترینہ کیف نے اپنا نام اس لیے تبدیل کیا کیونکہ ٹورکیوٹے بولنے میں بہت مشکل تھا اوراس وقت محمد کیف بھارتی کرکٹ ٹیم کے بہترین کرکٹرز میں سے ایک تھے یہی وجہ تھی کہ کترینہ نے اپنے نام کے ساتھ ’’کیف‘‘کا اضافہ کیا۔

Actor Kit Harington says, not everyone will be happy with the Game of Thrones finale.

Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival Harington said, “I think a TV series that's spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end. I think not everyone's going to be happy, you know, and you can't please everyone.”

The 31-year-old actor who plays the role of Jon Snow on the hit television series compared the show’s finale to those cult shows such as The Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

“My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Wire and they all ended in a way that…It’s never going to satisfy you,” Harington added.

Earlier, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays the role of Jamie Lannister on the show had revealed the fate of the Lannisters.

“It was a surprise. God, every time we got a new script I thought, ‘OK, this is probably going to be the one.’ But no. The Lannister kids made it to the end,” he said.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is set to premiere sometime in the first half of 2019, with no exact date released yet.

LOS ANGELES: Fantasy or realism? That’s the question at the Emmy Awards this year as voters choose whether to reward television dramas and comedies that provide comfort and escapism, or bleaker fare that echoes troubled times.

Dragons and castles saga “Game of Thrones” and heart-tugging family drama “This is Us” square off against chilling series “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Cold War spy show “The Americans” for the highest honors in television on Monday.

Comedies have changed since “Cheers” and “Friends” in the 1990s. This year, the absurdist hip-hop-inspired “Atlanta” and “black-ish,” which both delve into race in contemporary America, compete for best series against the sunny 1950s housewife tale “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and Larry David’s chronicle of everyday annoyances in “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

“What’s fascinating about the Emmys this year is that they are really a reflection of the pressing ideas of our time,” said Tom O’Neil, editor of awards website GoldDerby.com.

“In the big races, it’s the #MeToo movement and Black Lives Matter,” O’Neil said.

Drama series frontrunner “The Handmaid’s Tale” featured disturbing scenes of women being raped, mutilated, beaten and drowned in its vision of a near-future patriarchal society in which women are forcibly separated from their children.

Fan favorite “Game of Thrones,” a medieval fantasy of warring knights, is seen as the biggest challenger to “Handmaid’s Tale” for the top Emmy prize.”If people are voting for something a little more light-hearted and easier to go down, then ‘This is Us’ would be the spoiler,” said Indiewire executive editor Michael Schneider.

Elsewhere, the grisly limited series “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” throws a spotlight on serial killings and homophobia in the 1980s, while Laura Dern is seen as the favorite to take home an Emmy for her role in the television film “The Tale” about child sexual assault.

Comedy series front-runners “Mrs. Maisel” and “Atlanta” could not be more different from each other in tone.

“Mrs. Maisel,” about a mother who turns to stand-up comedy after a divorce, is an exuberant period piece with a dash of early feminism.

“Atlanta,” created by and starring actor-singer Donald Glover, is set in a hard-scrabble community on the margins of the city’s hip-hop culture.

“This season of ‘Atlanta’ was so inspired,” said Schneider. “The fact that it is a good story for representation, with a predominantly African-American cast, would be a strong message to send to give the top prize to that.”

The Emmy Awards will be handed out at a ceremony on Monday in Los Angeles.
