ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Pervez Khattak has underscored the need for optimum utilization of public properties, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
This he urged while chairing a meeting of the working group on alternative use of public properties in Islamabad here.
The minister said unutilized land would be developed with public private partnership and asked provinces to identify lands and future plan for their utilization.
He also directed to conduct survey and prepare feasibility report on various pilot projects.
The meeting was briefed that 704 apartments will be built on 120 acre of land in sector F-6 in Islamabad.
Mr Khattak said that the working group has identified 229 properties of different federal governments with 47,230 kanal area which will be utilized to generate revenue and also for construction of houses for Prime Minister’s five million housing project.
He said no lease will be extended to any person on public properties.
Pervez Khattak has also directed to secure land of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation from encroachments at Gaddani.
He, however, said that no person will be displaced and even poor people who are living on government land will be allocated houses in the public land.
