ISLAMABAD: Ousted premier Nawaz Sharif will meet his imprisoned brother Shehbaz Sharif tomorrow (December 12), ARY News reported.
As per details, the meeting will take place at the residence of Opposition Leader in National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif at Minister’s Enclave, declared a sub-jail by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at 10:30 in the morning.
The meeting is taking place after NAB had accepted Nawaz Sharif’s request to meet his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif, said sources privy to the matter.
The two brothers will discuss the country’s political scenario and ongoing cases filed by the anti-watch dog body, sources informed.
Matters of Khawaja brothers arrested and reservations of the opposition parties will also come under discussion, said sources.
Earlier today, Official from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique after Lahore High Court rejected their bail plea.
NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against what they termed housing society’s fraud.
Arrest of Shehbaz Sharif
The National Accountability Bureau on Oct 5 arrested Shehbaz Sharif inside its Lahore office where he was summoned to record his statement in connection with the Punjab Saaf Pani Company case.
A combined investigation team of the country’s top anti-graft watchdog quizzed him for an hour over his alleged role in awarding contract to his “favourite firm” in violation of laws in the Ashiana-i-Iqbal housing project.
The Bureau later issued a statement, declaring that former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested in the scam.
Shahbaz’s blue-eyed officers, Lahore Development Authority former director general Ahad Cheema and Fawad Hasan Fawad, are already in NAB custody in the Ashiana Housing case.
