QUETTA: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday said that the judiciary consider it its responsibility to protect rights of people of Balochistan, ARY News reported.
“We will protect the rights of people of the province. Let there be no injustice done to the people of Balochistan,” said chief justice while addressing lawyers in Quetta.
The CJP maintained that Balochistan will also get due representation in Islamabad High Court and he has also inquired about the province’s representation in tribunals.
“We will also establish SC secretariat in Quetta and it will comprise lawyers from Balochistan,” announced Saqib Nisar.
He, however, lamented that he was not even provided with names of judges for registry and Balochistan’s representatives in tribunals.
“Why Balochistan gets chief secretary and police chief from other provinces, the province needs due share (in resources) and representation at all levels,” said the CJP.
About the dam fund, the CJP maintained that building water reservoirs is the need of the hour and if we fail to build them within time, our future generations will suffer.
“Water scarcity is reaching alarming levels and water level is going down in Balochistan too, we need to act and build these water reservoirs to save our future generations from destruction,” said the CJP.
He thanked people of Balochistan for responding warmly to his appeal for contribution to dam fund.
Earlier, the CJP inaugurated the building of the Supreme Court’s registry in provincial capital.
