Three MQM-L ‘hitmen’ held in Karachi, confess to above 60 murders

KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested three terrorists associated with Muttahida Quami Movement-London (MQM-L) during a raid at Shah Latif Town area of Karachi.     

According to a statement released from the police department, the suspects, during the initial investigations, confessed to being involved in above 60 target killings and other heinous crimes.

Police conducted the raid on a tip-off and apprehended the suspects from a house in Shah Latif Town, where they took shelter after the imposition of ban on MQM-L.

The suspects were identified as Ahmer alias moon, Iftikhar alias mulla and Muhammad Kalam son of Abdul Aziz, reads the statement.

Police further revealed that all the three MQM-L hitmen were government servants and had been committing heinous crimes in the metropolis.

Ahmer alias moon, who was working as telephone operator at Institute of Heart Diseases, confessed to above 60 murders in the custody, reads the statement.

Iftikhar alias mulla, a 16-grade officer in Ministry of Labour, confessed that he was involved in 16 target killings. Whereas Muhammad Kalam son of Abdul Aziz, who was serving in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, confessed to 12 target killings.

Police said that about 20 cases were registered against the suspects in different police stations in the city.
