PM Imran Khan briefed on proposed law reforms

ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem on Thursday briefed a meeting on law reforms, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The minister in his detailed briefing on law reforms said that the reforms bill also comprises of the agreements for bilateral legal assistance with other countries.

Prime Minister Khan during the meeting expressed his determination that every possible effort will be made to provide justice to the weaker segments of the society. He said ensuring rights to citizens and providing inexpensive, easy and speedy justice to them is basic responsibility of the government.

He said speedy justice is fundamental part of the manifesto of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). He also vowed that the government will offer special attention to the rights of women, children and domestic servants.

The prime minister was briefed about the law reforms aimed at amendments in existing laws and enforcement of the new laws.

He was informed that the laws will be introduced for legal assistance to people from the state. The government will also introduce legislation to protect the women’s right to inheritance, the officials briefed the prime minister.

The prime minister was told that the ‘Whistle-blowers protection and vigilance commission’ will be constituted and rules will be made for providing easy justice to the government employees.

A bill on mutual legal assistance will be introduced in the parliament, the prime minister was briefed.

The parliamentary secretary briefed the meeting on proposed measures to ensure the rights of the women.
