NAB approves 13 inquiries against bigwigs

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal on Tuesday approved 13 inquiries against former federal ministers and other influential personalities.

Presiding over a high-level meeting, NAB chairman approved filing of references against former federal minister Arbab Alamgir Khan and his wife Asma Arbab.

NAB sources said that Arbab Alamgir and his wife were accused of possessing assets beyond known sources of income and abuse of powers.

The NAB meeting also approved inquiries against former federal minister Akram Khan Durrani, ex-provincial minister Nisar Khuhro and others.

The session also approved filing of reference against former Vice-chancellor Abdulwali Khan University Dr Ahsan.

Talking to the officials, NAB chairman reiterated his resolve to bring all mega corruption cases to their logical end on priority bases. He directed NAB officials to give due respect to all the visitors at the bureau.

NAB committed to make Pakistan corruption-free state: Javed Iqbal

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, on October 22, had said that anti-graft agency was committed to make Pakistan a corruption-free state.

Justice (R) Javed Iqbal had said that following the efforts of the NAB, Pakistan’s ranking has gone up to 116 from 175 on the index of corruption-free states. He had said, “Pakistan is a role model for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries because of achieving great success against white-collar crimes and corruption.”
