MQM-L worker confesses murder of 12 people on May 12 mayhem

KARACHI: Worker of Muthaida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) Mirza Rizwan Baig Aka ‘Chapati’ has confessed killing of political workers on May 12, 2007. ARY News reported on Saturday.

MQM-L worker, Rizwan Baig, arrested by Sindh Rangers on November 8, while recording his confessional statement in the court of the Judicial Magistrate South admitted his involvement in ‘bloodshed’ on May 12, the day when the deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry landed in Karachi.

” I had killed 12 political workers and injured 15 others in shootout on May 12 at the rally political parties  that were taken out to welcome the deposed CJP in Karachi”, Rizwan alias ‘chapati’ said.

Rizwan said, he had joined MQM in 2006 and got the job in Sindh government hospital in 2013 with the support of MQM-London.

Detailing the heinous crimes he had committed, he said, he along with help of his companions namely Hameed aka ‘Sainsdan’, Taqi, Mansoor and others, had killed Unit incharge of Suni-Tehreek at Karachi’s Kashmir road in 2010.

He also confessed killings of sector member of MQM Haqiqi, Farooq and other workers of the various political parties in the city, adding that was also involved in vandalizing properties during the strike that were called by the party in past.

The MQM-L worker also admitted his involvement in the party that attacked ARY News office on August 22.

Rizwan Baig said he was apprehended by the Sindh Rangers party on November 8 when he was waiting for his crime in partners to commit another heinous crime.

The court after recording the statement of the accused sent him to jail on judicial remand.
