Health insurance program being launched soon: minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Amir Mehmood Kiani on Wednesday said the government was going to start health insurance program in the country under which 25 million Health Insurance Cards would be distributed among poor people.

“Four new hospitals will be established in Islamabad to facilitate the people,” he said while talking to a private news channel.

The minister said government hospitals in Islamabad had been facing staff shortage since long and the government was advertising for new jobs to fill the vacant seats.

He said a nursing university would be established in Islamabad soon, as there was shortage of nurses in the country and budget of 10 billion rupees had been allocated for this purpose.

Earlier in a statement, Aamir Mehmood Kiani said all resources would be utilised for the improvement of health sector.

He said budget of the health sector would be increased to provide better facilities to the people of Pakistan.

The minister said the deserving people would be issued health cards by February next year.

The health minister said the government was committed to provide modern facilities to disabled people.

He said further improvements would be introduced in the fields of therapy and speech therapy.
