Faisal Vawda warns against depriving Karachi of its due water share

Faisal Vawda

JAMSHORO: Warning against injustice to the metropolis, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda on Monday said he would take serious action, if Karachi was not given its due share of water by the Sindh government.

“I will not get blackmailed because of the 18th Amendment in the Constitution. Karachi’s share of water is being theft and sold in connivance with tanker mafia,” he said while talking to media in Jamshoro.

He said there was water scarcity in Sindh and he would not let injustice happen to the people of Sindh and Karachi.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader said the Sindh government had failed to deliver. 12 billion rupees were being embezzled in the province, which were ownership of the federation, he said.

He said he would refer a case to the National Accountability Bureau about corruption in dam. He said he would not let the Sindh government waste Rs11 billion for the sake of Rs1.25 billion.

To a query, Faisal Vawda said if his dual nationality was established he would resign from his post and if it was not proved then the claimant should himself determine his punishment.

The minister said he would personally approach the NAB if anybody was found involved in graft. “Generally, poor get stuck in corruption and affluent persons get off scot-free, but I will not let it happen again even if it is Nawaz Sharif,” he said.
